The alluring display of nature would definitely be a feast for the eyes for any avid gardener in town. Held annually in the heart of Penang, Botanical Gardens certainly always has a lot to offer for environment lovers alike. The event was held from the 31st of May until the 7th of June 2009. Once I stepped inside, I could see that the Floral Fest had attracted many tourists from several countries and of course the local devotees as well. A podium was set not too far from the welcoming garden gate that had everything you dreamt a paradise garden would have.
Inside, I could see that an abundance of lilies, roses, orchids were revamped into astounding works of art. In addition, vendors could be seen selling herbal drinks, delectable local food, Malaysian ornaments and traditional trinkets as well as a longbow that I thought twice about buying. In the middle of the podium there were wooden tiles leading up to a garden exhibition composed of garden accessories such as water bridges, patterned rocks, flowery greens and butterflies roaming the landscape.
A rather interesting booth that caught my eye after the garden exhibition was the "Warna-warna Flora Booth".
It featured preserved foxes and turtles for tourist to take a gaze in wonder at as well as endangered species that would probably not be seen in the near future. The mini snake show was especially striking as one could handle the snake and wrap the reptile around one's neck, under the guidance of a snake handler of course. Stepping outside, I was greeted by a warm sight of the flora market place that was selling flowers like hot cakes.Clearly, the floral fest had lived up to this tourist expectations and its reputable name. An event for all ages, families, and even couples-as I found the stroll down Botanical Gardens with my girlfriend particularly pleasing and calming to the mind. After the Floral Fest, I hopped in one of the mini karts they had and drove round the whole of Botanical Gardens to take in the beauty of nature before retiring from my splendid visit to paradise with a creamy ice cream cone.
